NBMS girls come up short in title game

The North Buncombe Middle School girls' basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to Valley Springs on Wednesday (Feb. 3) in the French Broad Conference Tournament championship. After trailing by as many as 12 in the second half, the BlackHawks staged a furious comeback, only to come up short. Haley Higgins led the BlackHawks with 12 points. Coach Sarah Baldwin's first season at the helm was a success, finishing 13-4, with three of the losses coming against Valley Springs.
